The Boughfman Cottage 1023 S. Ash

It was the last rental on his portfolio. He had been slowly selling out, and had just one property left. One property with a special place in his heart. Mike casually called one day to see if we would be interested in looking at his last rental house. He knew it needed a little TLC and knew we were the crew to take care of it. We went and looked- I was blown away at this cute little cottage. I loved the little peak above the front door… And the original doors inside, still there since 1936 when it was built… Original windows, super cute eat in kitchen…I loved it. Don loved it. So we made our offer. When he accepted, we found out that his wife had lived there when he met her. He lived just down the street. I can only image the memories this little house held for them! Uncovering the stories, the memories, and the treasures a house holds will never get old. Each story is so unique, so surprising. When the remodel started, we found newspapers from 1952 used as flooring underlayment. What a treat it was to read through the pieces we could save. And when the crew opened up a floor patch and exposed the crawl space- whiskey barrels were used as concrete forms for the foundation pillars! This house already has a special place in my heart!
