Our Story

They never said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

And they were right.

Our story begins in about 2006 when Don and I (Jenna) decided to start a construction company. I guess our story really probably began much earlier than that, as I can remember loving to build forts as a kid… And I couldn’t wait until Sunday when my mom and I would walk through open houses... I spent my weekends painting furniture… And Don spent many a days as a kid helping his dad build and paint. He has always been good at working with his hands. But for the sake of our “professional” experience, we began our journey in construction in 2006 when we started HomeFix by Blunck.

Over the course of the past fourteen years or so we have been apart of some really incredible projects from small bathroom remodels all the way up to high end remodels, new construction builds in The Veranda, pool house builds, and salvaging historic buildings. We currently have a crew of five guys on site. There is nothing we love more than salvaging, preserving, and helping something live on in a better state.

Fast forward through the highs and lows to our beginning in real estate investing. We knew it would be a good fit, so we started looking for houses. And that is when we found my grandparents old house. Their home was the beginning of a journey of finding worn out homes that most people had given up on and restoring them. When word got around in this small town about what we were doing, the houses started flooding in. We have a fleet of 20 homes and plan to keep growing!

There are a lot of moving parts in owning two businesses, so in 2021 we hired our first Heirloom Homes employee, Kaci, to help track the costs to help make sure this passion of ours stays profitable. She has been there through some pretty dirty demo days, endless days of painting, and countless hours of crunching numbers. We certainly appreciate her more than she probably knows!

Looking back, it really wasn’t always easy, but it has always been worth it.
