The Kenton House 1137 N. Grimes

One small town conversation led to another…

It all began with one small town conversation to another. Our realtor had been talking to a family in need of selling their mom’s house. She had recently passed away, and the house was more than they could handle. He called us, knowing that when it comes to old homes, we weren’t scared of much. We have been in construction, remodeling and building, for gosh, fourteen years. We had seen a lot, had a great team, and knew we could repair just about anything. And knowing how many memories this house held, we had to find a way to save it.

An original kitchen with black and white tile flooring opened to a living room with original hardwood floors. Glancing to the hall, the original built in linen cabinet….history…memories…stories…

On the day of closing, the room was filled with what must have been half of the family- ten smiling faces so grateful to hear that their mom’s house was going to live on. When closing was done, we went by the house to walk through again. And there in the living room was a framed hand drawing of the house in it’s original state. These houses never cease to amaze me- and I will never forget those closing days and the incredible people I have met along the way.
